After losing the first One day international to India, Sri Lankan women team stand strong in the 2nd match. The scorecard of the 2nd match showed that both the teams are really experienced and have a lot of talented players like Mansi, Taniya and Smriti Mandhana.
India Women won the toss and they chose to bat first. Mithali and Raut started the match with their exclusive power hitting but Prabodhani sent Mandhana back to pavilion on the 1st ball of her 3rd over. Captain of India Women team Mitahli Raj came in after the dismissal of Smriti. In the very next over, Sripali Weerakkody bowled Raut out.
After two quick dismissals, Harmanpreet and Mithali took the responsibility to score slowly. Sripali again broke the partnership and took the wicket of Harmanpreet by a quick caught and bowl. Mithali Raj, Taniya Bhatia, and Hemalatha took India’s score to a cross respectable mark of 200 runs. Indian inning ended on 219 runs and all out.
Sri Lankan chase started with a loss of three early wickets of Prasadani Weerakkody, Nipuni Hansika and Dilani Manodara. Mansi Joshi and Gayakwad struck well in their first two overs. Later, Siriwardene and Atapattu took the responsibility and built a strong partnership of 100 runs. India got the breakthrough by run out of Siriwardane by Deepti.
Mansi Joshi took the wicket of Nilakshi De Silva who was looking dangerous after scoring 2 sixes and 2 boundaries. Deepti Sharma took the last wicket of Sri Lankan squad and confirmed India’s win by 7 runs remaining.
