Captain Virat Kohli became the fastest cricketer to reach 10000 runs mark and scored his 37th hundred in one-day Internationals.
The thrill of 2nd one-day international between India and West Indies came to an end with a tie. But let’s not take the sheen away from the man of the moment. Virat Kohli. Without a shadow of the doubt, the day belongs to the captain of Indian team who’s avidity for run-scoring keeps soaring into ineffable heights and who became the fastest to reach the 10000 runs mark.
Destiny is a mysterious force they say, but such is the mystical powers of King Kohli: they conquer, they clobber and eventually claim every batting record under the cloud. The self-mastery he exhibits each time on a cricket field is so stupendous that, it more often than not, gets overshadowed by his own batting prowess. Fastest to 10k in ODIs, is what he’ll be having for breakfast tomorrow.
Virat Kohli broke the all-time ODI record for the fastest to 10,000 ODI runs during his marathon knock of unbeaten 157 against Windies in the second ODI in Vizag. Starting his innings 81 runs away from the milestone, he took a single off Ashley Nurse in the 37th over of the Indian innings to get to the landmark.
This was the 37th ODI century and second consecutive century for Virat in this series against West Indies. Virat is proving why he is known as the No. 1 batsman in the world. Virat has surpassed the God of cricket Sachin Tendulkar and became the fastest to score 10000 runs. He still has many years to play for the national team and yet many records are waiting for him.
Virat Kohli ( man of the match), Captain in the post-match presentation: It was a great game of cricket, great to be part of it. Full house and credit to the West Indies team as well, they showed great heart. Especially in the second innings, when they got stuck in despite being three down. The beautiful partnership between both those guys but the way two teams played it was a fair result. Personally, I’m pretty proud of my innings and my milestone.
