The captain and vice-captain of the visiting team should be pleased with their effort as they walk on the way back to the dressing room. After losing their openers cheaply, the experienced batsmen – Pujara, Kohli, and Rahane – showed us why their side is ranked one in the world. Kohli and Rahane took the score to 172 and are heading towards their centuries.
Indian team gaining confidence as Kohli and Rahane on the way to score Centuries
They lost just one wicket in the final session the rock-solid Pujara getting strangled down leg. Rahane came out throwing his bat at almost everything, but that was his way to get his eye in. The troika of the Indian batters batted patiently and weathered a testing spell from Cummins who was the pick of the bowlers for Australia but has nothing to show in the wickets column.
Virat Kohli, the top-ranked Test batsman, did what he does always. He started off with four boundaries, saw off the phase when the Australian pacers were at their best and then again cashed in against the tiring bowlers.
He looks well on course to score yet another Test century and Rahane getting back to form (back-to-back fifties) is another positive sign for the Indians. Virat Kohli and Co. should be favorites to wipe off the deficit as they still have seven wickets in hand.
If Virat and Rahane lost their wickets then India would still have a lot of batting as Rishabh Pant and Hanuma Vihari both are the amazing players of Test format and can score big.
Australian team would be planning their new strategy to pick some early wickets on the 3rd day and also to stop the total of Indian Inning within 300. Mitchell has picked up 2 wickets on the 2nd day and can again be really dangerous for the Indian batting unit on the third day too.
