India has picked up the 2-0 lead after winning the 2nd match of the ODI series against New Zealand. Indian team’s Batting, as well as bowling department, dominated the Blackcaps firmly. Indian team has rested their main bowler Jasprit Bumrah and still, they are playing strongly. Here is the complete news over how Clinically India won the 2nd ODI against Blackcaps by 90 runs.
India Won The 2nd ODI Against New Zealand By 90 Runs | Rohit Sharma Became The Man Of Match
The Men in Blue are all smiles. Another dominant show from Virat Kohli and Co. A target of 325 wasn’t really big, but India was clinical with their bowling. The fact that a 58-run stand for the ninth wicket between Bracewell and Ferguson was New Zealand’s best ever stand in both the ODIs tells how poor they have been with the bat. Take nothing away from India’s spin twins though.
Kuldeep’s magic spell
Kuldeep yet again impressed with a 4-wicket haul, while Chahal supported him very well. The hosts got starts, but none converted them into a decent inning, barring Bracewell. Earlier, Rohit and Dhawan set the tone for India with a 154-run opening stand, while Kohli, Rayudu, and Dhoni made valuable 40s. Kedar’s 10-ball 22 helped India push the total a bit.
Rohit-Dhawan 154-Runs stand
Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan yet again read the conditions quickly, went hard early on to put New Zealand under pressure and stroked a 154-run stand to set things up. Both openers, however, had their fair share of close shaves early one but got going soon after. The first five overs yielded 27 and the storm was set there.
India moved to 100 in the 18th over as Rohit raised his half-century. Dhawan too completed the landmark but both batsmen missed out on the opportunity to kick on and bag centuries. Virat and Rayadu later added half-century stand. Once Kohli was dismissed for 43, both MS Dhoni and Rayudu struggled to give the innings the late impetus.
Dhoni and Jadhav’s fireworks
Rayudu’s clean inning step up the scoreboard while Dhoni glossed his innings with some late fireworks. After, Rayudu’s dismissal, Jadhav finished the innings with 22 off 10. India picked up 35 runs in the last two overs to push the total over 320 but the spinners ensured New Zealand never really got close.
So, India takes one step further towards a series win. NZ have strangely not turned up for the second game in a row. The hosts need to solve the spin puzzle to come back in the series. India won 2nd ODI by 90 runs and now is in a 2-0 lead over New Zealand in this ODI Series.
