England ODD 2019 has begun today. Yorkshire played their first match against Leicestershire. Yorkshire has started the domestic season with a win. Harry Brook & Garry Ballance powered them to victory. Leicestershire’s innings ended on 166 runs in 30 overs. Their poor performance led to a disaster loss.
Brook, Ballance Powered Yorkshire To Beat Leicestershire By 213 Runs
Harry Brook and Garry Ballance excellent partnership led Yorkshire to a huge score. Yorkshire scored 379 runs and lost 7 wickets in 50 overs. Tattersall also played a quick cameo in the last overs.
Leicestershire won the toss and choose to field first. Tom Taylor’s started his first spell perfectly by picking up 3 early wickets. He sent Willey, Lyth, and Cadmore back to the pavilion. After, this strong blow Brook & Ballance took the responsibility.
Both the batsmen played steadily and completed their centuries. After Harry Brook’s dismissal by Aadil Ali, Tattersall & Ballance speed up the run-rate. Later, Davis and Griffiths took the wickets of Ballance & Griffiths respectively. Tim Bresnan & Mathew Pilans ended the inning by a couple of boundaries.
Captain Paul Horton & Harry Dearden came to open the innings for Leicestershire. David Willey ruined the opening partnership. He bowled out Dearden on a duck. Willey also sent Lilley back to the pavilion who was looking really dangerous. Patterson took the wicket of captain Horton. Cosgrove tried hard to set his feet in the match but Poysden’s ball stuck to his legs.
The match was still looking favorable for both the sides till the 19th over. After, that Pilans’ magical spell of Five wicket haul made it a very strong start for Yorkshire in this English domestic season. Leicestershire’s inning ended on 166 runs at all wickets lost.
Result: Yorkshire won the match by 213 runs.
