Yuvraj Singh’s performance in Global T20 Canada 2019 was really amazing. He showed all his skills with both bat and ball. It was a quite interesting journey for his team Nationals too as they have made their spot to Qualifier 1. It was going quite well till the first inning of Qualifier 1 played between Toronto Nationals and Hawks.
Global T20 Canada 2019: Toronto Nationals lost Qualifier 1
Toronto Nationals started their batting with the early loss of Chirag Suri’s wicket. Rodrigo Thomas and Heinrich Klaasen took the score to 179 runs on the board. Rodrigo scored an impressive fifty and lost his wicket on 73 runs. Yuvraj Singh came to the crease with massive clapping and cheers of the crowd. He started to score slowly but was not 100 percent fit. He left the crease as Retired hurt on 8 runs.
Toronto Nationals gave a big chase of 239 runs in 20 overs. Hawks were totally outplayed by Nationals for first 3 overs then Duminy and Sunny Sohal made a terrific partnership 91 runs. Sunny Sohal scored 36 runs and lost his wicket to Lamichhane. JP Duminy played an outstanding knock of 85 runs in just 41 balls. Rayad Emrit played a brilliant cameo of 32 runs and lead Hawks to victory.
The chase seemed done and dusted after Hawks lost their top three inside four overs, but JP Duminy kept them in the game with a superbly-paced knock and that 15-ball 32 cameo from Emrit might have just turned things in the favor of Hawks before bad light had the final say.
JP Duminy, Man of the Match: Was probably one of my better ones (knocks) in T20 cricket. Communication was important with respect to targeting the bowlers and when the spinners came on I knew, I need to capitalize. I need to free my arms against the offspinner and that’s something I worked on in the last few years.
So, the winner of qualifier 2 – Brampton Wolves vs Winnipeg Hawks (on Saturday) – will face Vancouver Knights in the final on Sunday.
