Dindigul Dragons have shown their true strength in the 2nd Qualifier of Tamil Nadu Premier League 2019. This match was between table-toppers Dindigul Dragons and the no. 3 team on points table Madurai Panthers. Dragons totally outplayed Panthers in both bowling and batting department. Dragons won the match by 45 runs in the end.

Dindigul’s captain N Jagadeesan and Hari Nishanth started the inning firmly. Dragons lost their first wicket on 101 runs as Captain dismissed for 50 runs. In the very next over they lost their second opener Nishanth who had also scored 51 runs. Later, NS Chaturved and M Mohammed done some exceptional hitting and took the total to 175 runs in 20 overs.

Madurai Panthers having a good batting line-up began the chase slowly. They suffered an early loss of Arun Karthik’s wicket picked up by Ramalingam Rohit. After a couple of overs, Shijit Chandran lost his wicket to Silambarasan.

Mohan Abhinav took the responsibility to pick regular wickets on his shoulders. Mohan Abhinav picked 2 important wickets of Sarath Raj and Nilesh Subramanium. Only Jagatheesan Koushik scored 40 runs which were the hope of Panthers while other players failed to score 15. They lost all their wickets within 20 overs at the score 130.

So, the Dragons are back to doing their usual bit after their two-match blip. They did it in absolute style here. The spinners deserve a massive share of the credit for that, with Arun, Silambasaran, and Abhinav spinning a real web in the middle-overs and sharing six important wickets among themselves. But all said and done, it was the final assault that Dindigul got towards the end with the bat that was the clincher, suddenly lifting them to 175 from what seemed to be a 150-finish.
